ShotSpotter and Pictometry Form Marketing and Integration Alliance

Combined, High-Profile Public Safety Technologies to Help Agencies Keep Communities Safer

SANTA CLARA, Calif. & ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

ShotSpotter, Inc., the world leader in gunshot location systems and technology for public safety and the military, and Pictometry International Corp., the worldwide leader in digital, aerial oblique imagery and easy-to-use measuring software systems, today announced that the firms have entered into a marketing and integration partnership.

Under terms of the agreement, ShotSpotter has chosen Pictometry as the exclusive oblique imaging technology that will go to market with the ShotSpotter Gunshot Location System (GLS). Pictometry has also been awarded exclusive rights, within the aerial oblique technology market, to sell ShotSpotter solutions. Together the two firms will deliver integrated ShotSpotter and Pictometry technologies, and market them to customers in 9-1-1, law enforcement, emergency management agencies, and other government customers. Both firms have proven and extensive expertise in public safety technologies that are dramatically impacting how public safety agencies are keeping communities safer and improving responses. ShotSpotter and Pictometry are planning on deploying their combined solutions at a number of mutual customer installations across the country that include the cities of Birmingham, Boston, Minneapolis, Oakland, Rochester (NY), and Washington, DC.

ShotSpotter has been delivering patented, state-of-the-art gunshot location and detection systems for more than ten years, and counts more than a dozen operational systems in place today. ShotSpotter products use patented technology to detect weapons-fire events over large, complex environments. The system uses wireless and/or wired sensors to identify, locate, and give a visual image of the location of a gunshot event within seconds. Agencies using ShotSpotter have reported that gunfire-related arrests increase by 50%, violent crime rates drop by at least 30%, and gunfire rates have dropped dramatically, by as much as 60-80% depending on the location of the system.

"No other aerial oblique imaging technology offers ShotSpotter customers the wealth of technical advancements, the proven experience, and the incredible rich detail of imagery that Pictometry provides," said Jack Pontious, ShotSpotter's Vice President of Business Development.

Now, with Pictometry's patented aerial imaging technology that captures and catalogues image libraries of entire counties and states, advanced high resolution photos will be integrated into ShotSpotter GLS's Public Safety Console. This will enable public safety officials to be able to make an immediate assessment of the area in which the gunshots occurred, such as identifying boarded up or abandoned buildings, searching for hidden alcoves or other areas that could present dangerous situations to responding officers, and virtually looking around, over, and behind buildings and structures -- places a responding officer might not be able to see at the scene.

Pictometry's geospatial software allows users to access up to 20 oblique (3D-like) aerial photos of every square foot in an area. The software also enables users to instantly obtain measurements such as distance, height, and areas directly from the Intelligent Images(R). Pictometry has gained significant acceptance from its proven results in public safety applications that include helping 9-1-1 centers to quickly locate cellular calls for service, creating a Rapid Response Program for delivering post disaster imaging, and providing SWAT teams and fire fighters with a touch screen software interface for mobile deployments of Pictometry for en route as well as on-the-scene tactical planning.

"ShotSpotter provides public safety agencies with an incredible technology that can be used in a variety of 9-1-1 and law enforcement dispatching and command operations. The integration of ShotSpotter into Pictometry's Strategic Advantage Suite of products provides law enforcement professionals with an all-in-one, self-contained system that helps improve tactical awareness of critical events as they unfold. This means that they can now not only see, measure, and plan effectively as events unfold, but virtually hear the events take place in as close to real time as possible," said Pictometry Chief Marketing Officer Dante Pennacchia. "We are pleased to provide this new capability to Pictometry Customers."
